HOW WE THINK ABOUT IMPACT
Jesus cared deeply about the physical and spiritual needs of those with the least in our world. Orchard: Africa helps churches continue the work of Jesus specifically in vulnerable communities where there is extreme poverty, injustice and suffering. This means feeding the hungry, healing the sick and caring for the orphan. It also means sharing the message of God’s love and salvation. The good news of Jesus and his kingdom has a wholistic impact that offers hope for this life as well as the life to come.
A PATHWAY TO DEVELOPMENT
We equip churches to care for the vulnerable in three key stages:

RECONSTRUCTION
DEVELOPMENT
Relief is providing for the immediate needs that impact daily life. Such as providing food and necessary items.
Reconstruction is rebuilding what was broken, healing, forgiveness, preparing to move forward.
Developing systems that create sustainable solutions for the future.
Our work involves all three stages of care, but focuses on ultimately moving communities toward long-term development.
Hi, my name is Patrick! I lead the Western Cape Impact Center and I am passionate about walking with pastors who care for the vulnerable.
OUR IMPACT CENTERS
TRAINING CENTER
This work takes place through our Impact Centers where church leaders receive training in small-scale agriculture, early childhood education, small business development, orphan care, and church strengthening. Our centers also offer network gatherings for pastors, empowerment programs for women facing gender-based violence, young parent workshops and future leader youth development courses.
DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE
In addition to development and training, our Impact Centers distribute food to supply church-based feeding programs; curriculum, books, and school supplies for preschools; seedlings, compost, and gardening tools for agriculture programs; and various care kits that churches share with families in need in their community.
ON LOCATION COACHING
Our Impact Center staff then travel to our partners and provide on-site coaching to help churches launch and sustain their outreach programs.
THE NORTH WEST IMPACT CENTER
Located at the tip of the continent, this Impact Center serves a network of churches from informal townships like Khayelitsha, one of the largest communities like this in the world.
THE WESTERN CAPE IMPACT CENTER
Located in the North West Province, this Impact Center serves a network of churches from mostly rural villages and is the region where Orchard: Africa began.
FUTURE IMPACT CENTERS
We are currently planning for additional Impact Centers in the Western Cape Province that will address the growing demand for development in other vulnerable communities.
