POSTCARD FROM AFRICA - March 2026
Just 35 kilometres from our Impact Centre in Cape Town, Pastor Simphiwe Tsewu leads a church in a small town called Grabouw. He joined the Orchard Network in May 2025 after a fellow pastor encouraged him, noting that Orchard: Africa supports churches engaged in meaningful community ministry beyond Sunday services. Since then, he has become a regular at our monthly Network gatherings.
At our first meeting this year our Senior Pastor, Mike Tessendorf, shared a message encouraging leaders not to give up, even when circumstances feel overwhelming. He reminded them that God values faithfulness - that their presence matters.
At the end of the session, Pastor Simphiwe tearfully approached Orchard: Africa's Regional Pastor, Patrick Mokgosi. For weeks, he had considered leaving ministry. The needs around him felt too great, and he believed he had little to offer. But during the message, he sensed God speaking directly to him, reminding him that his presence and willingness to serve are valuable.
He left encouraged, with a renewed sense of purpose.
Pastor Simphiwe’s story reflects what we see often. Leaders come not only for training, but for encouragement, spiritual support, and fellowship.
